English: Racionale standing above his indigenous workers at Entre Rios, a rubber plantation of the Peruvian Amazon Company. The racionale is identified in the album as “Vega.” Photograph circa 1912. The Peruvian Amazon Company conscripted indigenous youths into the ranks of their ‘Muchachos de Confienza.’ A band of armed killers for Julio Cesar Arana’s plantation managers.
