Summary

Description
English: Photo taken and supplied by Brian Voon Yee Yap.

This steel track was produced by Krupp for a segment of the South Australian Railways. It is now at the Rail Museum at Adelaide River, Northern Territory and relates to the original Pine Creek Railway running south from Darwin, Northern Territory.

The gauge is 3' 6" (1067mm).

The sign in the photo reads as follows:

North Australian Railway 1888 to 1976

Original Rails

from Palmerston to Pine Creek Railway

marked "1885 KRUPP P & PC R"

As it was a long lead time item, 10,000 (tons?) of this rail was ordered by South
Australian Railways in 188_ for supply to the railway contractor. The rails
were made by Krupp at Essen in Germany.

This section was found one mile south of Adelaide River railway station in October 2001.
