Summary

Description

On the left of this 1999 photo taken in Gloucester Road, Bristol is the Bristol Flyer pub, with the Bristol North Baths on the right. The Baths closed in October 2005, and the premises are empty at present.

If you're a fan of BBC comedy 'Only Fools and Horses', the Baths were the location for the Police Station in the final scene of the 1988 Only Fools and Horses Xmas special 'Dates'. The Bristol Flyer pub was also used in that episode as the Nags Head, in the scene where Del clocks Trigger taking a girl to dinner.

Fans of another BBC comedy series 'The Young Ones', may also recognise the baths from the 1984 episodes 'Cash' (as the Police Station) and 'Summer Holiday' (as the "Fascist Pig Bank").

The full list of the external locations used by the BBC for the Nags Head in Only Fools over the years is as follows:-

The Alma, 78 Chapel Market, Islington, London (in 'It never Rains and 'Diamonds are for Heather' 1982)

The Bolton Hotel, 81 Duke Road, Chiswick, London (in 'Who's a Pretty Boy?' 1983) NB - This pub ceased trading in 1995 and is now residential.

Prince Arthur (now known as Number 10), Golborne Road, Kensal Town, London (In 'Hole in One' 1985)

Bristol Flyer, 96 Gloucester Road, Bishopston, Bristol (In 'Dates' 1988)

Waggon & Horses, 83 Stapleton Road, Easton, Bristol (In 'Dates' 1988) NB - The pub ceased trading in 2007 and is now derelict.
