"The Oakland Auditorium, a building of steel, granite and concrete, erected by the City of Oakland. The structure is 198 x 400 feet, contains a complete theatre seating 1989 and an auditorium seating 8194, besides an art gallery, private ballroom, and many other meeting rooms. The Auditorium cost $1,000,000."
