Français : Gravure ancienne extraite du journal Le Monde Illustré, mai 1865. Illustration d'après le croquis de M. Moullin qui représente l'Empereur Napoléon III au balcon de la sous-préfecture de Mostaganem (département d'Oran, Algérie) saluant les colons français et les Arabes lors de sa visite officielle le 20 mai 1865. Extrait de l'article "VOYAGE DE S.M. L'EMPEREUR EN ALGERIE". L'article publié page 340 comprend le commentaire suivant: "Excursion à Médéah. De Blidah à Médéah, la route n'est bordée de loin en loin que par des habitations isolées, mais toutes ces maisons étaient décorées de drapeaux, et les habitants, dans la mesure de leurs moyens, s'étaient attachés à les orner de guirlandes de verdure, de couronnes et de fleurs, autour desquelles tout le monde, hommes, femmes, enfants, venait se grouper au moment du passage de l'Empereur. Ces modestes et naïves manifestations de la reconnaissance des populations empruntaient à leur rusticité même un caractère des plus touchants."
