Español: El lienzo representa la muerte del rey Alfonso XII de España (1857-1885), ocurrida el día 25 de noviembre de 1885 en el Palacio del Pardo. Junto a la cama del rey aparecen la reina María Cristina de Habsburgo-Lorena, viuda de Alfonso XII, las infantas María de las Mercedes de Borbón y Habsburgo-Lorena y María Teresa de Borbón, hijas del difunto monarca, el cardenal Francisco de Paula Benavides Navarrete y Antonio de Orleans, duque de Montpensier y suegro del difunto soberano.
