English: The Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George - Companion - CMG Awarded to Dr George Harry Uttley, MD DSc FGS, CMG (1879-1960) seven pointed metal and enamel star medal or Maltese Asterisk, 46mm wide, ring suspension with ribbon, obverse- white enamel points with enamel centre showing St Michael walking on Satan, crown at top reverse- St George on horseback killing a dragon ribbon- grosgrain ribbon, 39mm wide, red-blue-red with buckle-shaped clasp

Notes The Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George Dr George Harry Uttley, MD DSc FGS, CMG Long-time serving Rector, and principal of Colleges and involved in many public services. Dr George Harry Uttley CMG (1879-1960) Born 9 October 1879 in Dunedin. Taught at Waitaki Boys’ High School during early 1900s while completing his MSc on Oamaru geology. In 1916 he became first headmaster of the newly established Scots College for Boys in Wellington, and later (1930-1946) taught at Southland Boys’ High School. Following his retirement he moved to Auckland where he died in 1960.
