Deutsch: Die Vorderseite zeigt eine Büste Friedlaenders in Dreiviertelansicht. Die umlaufende Legende nennt Name, seine Position als Direktor des Münzkabinetts und seine Lebensdaten. Der Medailleur Max Barduleck signierte unterhalb der Büste mit MB. Die Rückseite zeigt eine weibliche Person in antikisierender Tracht. Sie ist umringt von historischen und numismatischen Gegenständen. Die Legende nennt den Anlass der Prägung für die Vereinstage Deutscher Münzforscher. Beschlossen wurde sie in München, ausgegeben in Dresden.
English: The front side depicts a bust of Friedlaender in three-quarter view surrounded by name, date of birth and death as well as his employment as head of numismatic department of the Berlin museum of ancient art. The engraver Max Barduleck signed below the bust "MB". The back side shows a reclined female in neoclassical stile. She is surrounded by historical and numismatic attributes. The dedication names occasion and year of strucking the medal in German. The occasion is named as the annual convention of German coin collectors, who decided to commission the medal in Munich 1886. Said medal was issued on the next meeting in Dresden 1891.
