Summary

Description
English: Standard Character Interval Structure for Asynchronous Transmission

Asynchronous Data Communication. The standard character structure for asynchronous data communication shall consist ot ten (10) elements having equal time intervals; one "0" (spacing) start elemeit, seven ASCII bits, one character parity bit, and one "1" (Marking) stop element. The intercharacter interval (the time interval between the end of a stop element and the beginning of the next start element) may be of any length, and is of the same sense as the stop dement, i.e., "1" (marking).

The standard sense of character parity for asynchronous data communication shall be even over the eight bits (seven ASCII bits and character parity bit), i.e., an even number of "1" (marking) bits per character.
