English: M1918 (US-produced) version of Canon de 155 C modèle 1917 Schneider; marked on barrel-end "A.B.S. & FDY CO.1918" "2678 POUNDS NO. 675 J.H.C.". Mounted at the memorial park, Tarcutta, Australia. A plaque says this is one of 18 guns transferred to the 2/1st Australian Medium Artillery Regiment in North Africa in December 1941. This gun has been 'spiked' by an explosive charge that entered the barrel from the top, just ahead of the pivot: Close examination of the picture will reveal a bulge at the top, and the cracked and bulged metal below the barrel. |
