Description
English: Title Page Border for Adam Petri's Reprint of Martin Luther's Translation of the New Testament. Woodcut, image 24.3 × 16.6 cm, sheet 25.1 × 17.2 cm, Kunstmuseum Basel. At the top are the Basel coat of arms framed by basilisks; at the sides are St Peter and St Paul; and at the bottom is the device of the printer Adam Petri, the Christ child riding the Lion of Judah.
Date Published 1523, but probably cut and printed the previous year. This reproduction is from the 3rd edition of 1525.
