Summary

Description
English: Lochinvar Viewed from Lochinvar Lodge at the south end of the Loch. In the middle of the Loch, there was once an island, submerged when the level of the dam was raised in 1968. Atop the island stood the ruined castle of the Gordons. The name Lochinvar is well known by former generations of schoolchildren who were required to memorise Sir Walter Scott's famous poem "Oh Young Lochinvar is come out of the west" http://homepages.wmich.edu/~cooneys/poems/Scott.Lochinvar.html.
