Deutsch: Jakob Georg Christian Adler (* 8. Dezember 1756 in Arnis an der Schlei [heute Kreis Schleswig-Flensburg]); † 22. August 1834 in Giekau [heute Kreis Plön]) war ein deutscher Pastor, Generalsuperintendent für Holstein und Schleswig, Orientalist, Professor für syrische Sprache an der Universität Kopenhagen, evangelischer Theologe, Oberkonsistorialrat, Autor, Pädagoge, Münzsammler und Vorstandsvorsitzender der Schleswig-Holsteinischen Bibelgesellschaft. Er ist mit Matthias Claudius und Caspar Aquila verwandt. Das Gemälde befindet sich heute im Schleswiger Dom.
Das im Dom zu Schleswig befindliche Ganzfigur-Porträt (2,14 x 1,34 m) Jacob Georg Christian Adlers, wurde von dem Schleswiger Maler Carl Andreas Augus Goos (1797-1855), aus Anlass des 50. Dienstjubiläums (15. 01. 1833) J.G.C. Adlers angefertigt. Als Bildhintergrund ist Interieur des Schleswiger Doms erkennbar. Signiert und datiert "C: Goos PINXIT 1833". Das Honorar des Malers war 30 Rtlr. 43 Sh. Als Brustbild existiert es zudem in der königlichen Bibliothek zu Kopenhagen sowie in der Schleswig-Holsteinischen Landesbibliothek. |
