Hughes Airwest logo graphics adapted from photo of McDonnell Douglas DC-9-31 jet in Hughes Airwest livery depicted at http://www.airliners.net/photo/Hughes-Airwest/McDonnell-Douglas-DC-9-31/0967071/L/. Color of the airliners has been described as "Sundance Yellow", and the logo as "Universe Blue". As these are not standards-compliant color names, the colors in this SVG rendition are based on a best guess from digitally sampled area of the image at the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer.

No suitable vector renditions could be located on the Web, since Hughes Airwest ceased operations about 15 years before the World Wide Web came into existence and two years before Adobe PostScript appeared. The original logo was most likely created on a drafting table with a drafting machine and colored pencils. Therefore, this image is a manual reconstruction, using AutoCAD R14 to trace the logo graphics from a photo of an actual aircraft and create vector outlines, Adobe Illustrator 9 to fill the paths, and Inkscape 0.46 to assemble the elements, arrange them and perform final color adjustments.
