English: Heroic statue of a Roman general; the antique head does not belong to the statue and represents Octavius. The back of the support bears the sculptor's signature: “Ὀφελίων / [Ἀριστονίδα]”. Body: marble, 1st century BC; head: marble, ca. 31 BC. From Tusculum, Italy.
Français : Statue héroïque d'un général romain ; la tête, antique, n'appartient pas à la statue mais représente Octave. L'arrière de la cuirasse qui sert de support porte la signature du sculpteur : « Ὀφελίων / [Ἀριστονίδα] ». Statue : marbre, Ier siècle av. J.-C. ; tête, marbre, v. 31 av. J.-C. Provenance : Tusculum, Italie.
