Description
English: Caption: HOUSTON, Alaska -- Maj. (Dr.) Thomas Knolmayer leads his team on a practice run. The two dogs in front of the sled are called wheel dogs and have to be stronger than the other 10 to 12 dogs on the team so they can pull the sled around corners and over hills. Dr. Knolmayer is a staff surgeon with the 3rd Medical Operations Squadron at nearby Elmendorf Air Force Base. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Joe Laws)
