Photograph of the box cover of Descent: Journeys in the Dark. I, User:Alan De Smet, took this photograph myself. As the photo is pretty much exclusively a photograph of a copyright protected work by someone else, I don't believe I can make any copyright claim. to the extent that I might, I relinquish any copyright claim I might have, yielding my work into the public domain.

Fair Use Rational[edit]

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

1. It illustrates an educational article about the entity that the image represents.
2. The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of the article topic.
3. It is a low resolution image, and thus not suitable for production of counterfeit goods.
4. The logo is not used in such a way that a reader would be confused into believing that the article is written or authorized by the owner of the logo.
5. It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value.

This image is of a board game cover, and the copyright for it is most likely held by the publisher of the board game. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of board game covers to illustrate the board game in question, where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information, on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, qualifies as fair use under the copyright law of the United States.
