English: Description: Text of label: Mass demonstration in New York City commemorating the first anniversary of the uprising of the Warsaw Ghetto, held on April 19, 1944. Over 30,000 Jews gathered before the steps of [New York] City Hall and listened to speeches by Mayor La Guardia and prominent Jewish leaders." First row, l-r: M.J. Nurenberger, editor of the Canadian Jewish News; Dr. Joseph Thon ; New York City Mayor Fiorello La Guardia ; Isaac Rubinstein, former Chief Rabbi of Wilno (Vilna), Poland and former member of the Polish senate. Second row, beginning at second from left, l-r: Yiddish writer Sholem Asch ; Polish poet Julian Tuwim ; Dr. Simon Segal ; writer S.L Schneiderman ; (behind him) artist Arthur Szyk ; writer Dr. Chaim Shoshkes, ; Cantor Moishe Oysher.
