Quarterly: 1st and 4th, Argent a Pale Sable (Erskine); 2nd and 3rd, Azure a Bend between six Cross Crosslets fitchée Or (Mar); over all on an Escutcheon Gules the Royal Crown of Scotland proper within a Double Tressure flory counterflory, ensigned with an Earl's Coronet also proper (Kellie); behind the shield are placed in saltire a Key wards outwards Or and a Baton Gules garnished Or and ensigned with a Castle of the last (Insignia of Office of the Hereditary Keeper of Stirling Castle). Crest. 1st: On a Cap of Maintenance Gules turned up Ermine a Dexter Hand holding a Skene in pale Argent hilted and pommelled Or; 2nd: On a Cap of Maintenance Gules turned up Ermine a Demi Lion rampant guardant Gules armed Argent. Supporters. On either side a Griffin Argent armed beaked and winged Or. Motto. Over the 1st Crest: Je Pense Plus (I think more); over the 2nd Crest: Decori Decus Addit Avito (He adds honour to the honour of his ancestors); beneath the Shield: Unione Fortior (Strengthened by unity). |
