This foundation is actually the old ice plant just west of the Verde Canyon RR depot. It was operated by Mr. Son and his wife while the smelter was in operation. The SFP&P line was actually from Ash Fork to Phoenix. This line was originally Santa Fe, but became private in 1988. There was a rail line from Jerome to Clarkdale called the VT&S(Verde Tunnel& Smelter) which brought ore from Jerome to Clarkdale starting in 1915 until 1953 to be processed at the smelter then shipped out on the Verde Valley Railway(Verde Mix).
