DescriptionChurch of St John the Evangelist, Pauntley - geograph.org.uk - 850760.jpg
English: Church of St John the Evangelist, Pauntley, near to Brand Green, Gloucestershire, Great Britain.
In addition to the tower, nave and chancel, the church has an additional chapel, the Chapel of St George, added around 1430 to house a chantry founded by Guy Whittington. The Whittingtons were lords of the manor between the 14th and 16th centuries and lived at nearby Pauntley Court. It is possible that Dick Whittington was born at Pauntley Court, as it was his childhood home, but there are no records which prove this.
