W centrum kompozycji, na tle miejskiej bramy z podniesioną kratą, widnieje król Bolesław Chrobry — rycerz siedzący na koniu, w prawej, uniesionej ręce trzyma miecz. Po jego prawej stronie usytuowany jest młody mężczyzna na koniu — kniaź Światopełk I, zięć króla. Po lewej stronie króla stoi, w otoczeniu służby, młoda kobieta — córka króla i żona Światopełka. Za nią, w otoczeniu bojarów i diaków, stoi mężczyzna w stroju biskupa (Reinbern) oraz biskup Atanazy z darami umieszczonymi na tacy. Z prawej strony króla, w lektyce siedzi inna młoda kobieta — Predysława, siostra Światopełka. Na blankach murów scenie przypatrują się żołnierze. Na dalszym planie, w prześwicie bramy widoczne są miejskiej zabudowania, w tym sylweta cerkwi. Kolorystyka z przewagą tonów ciepłych: brązów, czerwieni i żółcieni.
