Summary

Description

Qian Yuan - the garden of poets and philosopher

There are basically two fundamentel styles of garden systems in China. The northern or imperial style means large extents, Marmor, precious materials and multicolored glazed roofing tiles. On the other hand the south chinese style is for simple materials such as natural stone, wood and unicolored bricks as well as for simple colours. This garden style is preferred by high officials, scholars and artists. The chinese garden in Bochum is the only garden in the south chinese style in Germany.

The garden was built with support of the Tongji-University of Shanghai.
