Description

St Andrew's Church, Blickling, Norfolk, monumental brass of Cecilie Boleyn (1408-1458) who died aged 50, unmarried. She was a sister of Sir w:Geoffrey Boleyn (1406–1463), lord of the manor of Blickling, a wealthy mercer who purchased Blickling Hall, the great-grandfather of Queen Anne Boleyn (c.1501-1536), the second wife of King Henry VIII. She remained single all her life. Inscribed: Here lyth Cecilie Boleyn Suster to Geffrey Boleyn lord of the man(or) of Blyclyng whiche Cecilie decessed in hir maydenhode of the age of L yeeres the XXVI day of Juyn the yeer of our Lord M CCCC LVIII whos soule God pardonne Amen
