Summary

Description Bible open air museum in Nijmegen. Roman town: Sign at a brothel with Latin inscription "Hic habitat felicitas" ("Here live happyness" or "Here lives good fortune"). The original was found in Pompeii outside of a bakery (not a brothel!), was an amulet against bad luck, and is to show in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale (Naples), in the erotic collection called by the Bourbons "Gabinetto Segreto".
Copy of CIL IV, 1454 (Alison E. Cooley and M.G.L. Cooley, Pompeii : a sourcebook, London, 2004, p. 90-91, n° E24), from the "regione sesta, isola sesta, località 17 [VI.6.17]" (Giuseppe Fiorelli, Descrizione di Pompeii, Napoli, 1875, p. 104-105). Cf. Id., Raccolta pornografica. Catalogo del Museo Nazionale di Napoli, 6, Napoli, 1866, p. 10, n° 73. Original at Napoli, before at Pompeii. May see also : CIL III, 5561 and CIL X, 8053
