| Description |
English: In 1978, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory was following the 2XII experiments of Fred Coensgen (pictured in photo) and his team. They were injecting into the 2XII device a plasma that was compressed in a magnetic bottle by intensifying the magnetic field. High densities were achieved, but plasma confinement was poor at high temperatures. Changes were made to address the issue. The experiment later became 2XIIB. |
