Summary

Description

In 1928, Chrysler acquired Fargo Trucks and Dodge Brothers and also established Plymouth and DeSoto brands. Plymouth was Chryslers lowest priced car, Dodge was next, then Desoto and Chrysler was top of the line. This, the 1957-59 Dodge, got an all new forward look design, it was long and low with big fins and quad headlights. 1958 saw a mild facelift to the grille and side trim, 59 cars got a heavy drooping look with hooded headlights. In 1957, the Coronet was the still the base level Dodge (available in 2 and 4 door Sedan and Convertible, also the Coronet Lancer 2 and 4 door Hardtop, the base wagon was the 2 door Suburban) Mid spec was the Royal (available in 4 door Sedan and Lancer 2 and 4 door Hardtop, mid spec wagon, the 4 door Sierra) Top model was the Custom Royal. (4 door Sedan and Lancer 2 and 4 door Hardtop and Convertible). Upmarket Wagons were the Sierra Royal.
