The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on January 16, 2026.

Cast[edit]

Production[edit]

In January 2023, Weapons, written on spec by Zach Cregger prompted a bidding war between Universal Pictures, Netflix, TriStar Pictures, and New Line Cinema.[1][2] On January 25, 2023, New Line was announced to have won the rights to the film.[1][2] The acquisition deal sees Cregger receiving "eight figures to write and direct" Weapons, as well as final cut privilege (pending test screening reactions to the film) and a guaranteed theatrical release.[2][3]

In May 2023, Pedro Pascal and Renate Reinsve were cast to star in the film.[4][5] By December, Brian Tyree Henry, Tom Burke, Austin Abrams, and June Diane Raphael joined the cast.[6] In February 2024, Pascal exited the project, due to his commitments to The Fantastic Four (2025), with Josh Brolin entering talks to replace him.[7] In April, Julia Garner and Alden Ehrenreich joined the cast of the film, with Brolin confirmed to join as well.[8][9] In May 2024, Benedict Wong, Amy Madigan and Cary Christopher were announced to have joined the cast.[10]

Filming[edit]

Principal photography was at one point planned to run from February 20, 2024 until April 18.[6] Filming was rescheduled to begin by mid-May in Atlanta.[8]

Release[edit]

Weapons is scheduled to be released in the United States on January 16, 2026.[11]
