Carl H. Fischer (May 22, 1907 – November 23, 2005) was a floriculturalist in the United States known for creating many new varieties of gladiolus flowers.[1][2] The company he founded in 1945, Noweta Gardens, continues to market some of the 600 hybrids of glads he developed.[3]
St. Charles, Minnesota, the city where he lived for most of his life, holds a Gladiolus Days festival which recognizes him every August.[4]

Noweta Gardens was started by Carl Fischer, who originated the company in 1945 in St. Charles, MN. He was known as the world's leading hybridizer and up until his death in 2005, hybridized over 600 known varieties, including more than 100 All-America Award Winners.

Gladiolus Days is St. Charles' annual festival in honor of the late Carl Fischer, who was the world's leading hybridizer of new and distinctive gladiolus. He received numerous awards for his achievements, including the Society of the American Florists Gold Medal Award. He also received 80 awards for his "All American" varieties as well as the proven old timers. He established Noweta Gardens in 1945 and grew fields of Gladiolus in and around St. Charles for decades.
