Tarquin,

Nobody is stopping users "from asserting their opposition
to the US in its current state as a polluting warmonger ruled by an oil
baron despot?"

They are free to do so:
* on their own user page
* on any talk page relating to the US, pollution, warmongering, oil, barons or despotism

I would like to see us stop the petty bickering and factionalism and get back to the work of creating an encyclopedia.

Please contribute to the articles on [[pollution]], [[environmentalism]], [[George Bush]], the oil industry and so forth. Put in as much as you wish about how Bush in particular or Americans in general are selfishly advancing their interests at public expense.

Just be careful not to lapse into partisanship. If you say for example, in an article, that Bush wants to "destroy the Alaskan wilderness" I'll revert that immediately. If you say that Danby Artisan opposes drilling in the ANWR because he believes it would destroy the Alaskan wilderness, I'll give you an "attaboy" (redeem 6 attaboys for a special prize! :-).
