गौरतलब है, कि भारत की लगभग 70 प्रतिशत आबादी एग्रीकल्चर पर निर्भर करती है और साथ ही लगभग 60% आबादी को यह सेक्टर रोजगार भी मुहैया करा रहा है. भारत की कुल GDP का 17% गांव और किसानों की देन है, लेकिन जो गांव, गरीब और किसान देश को इतना कुछ देते हैं उनकी जिंदगी इतनी आसान नहीं होती है. एग्रीकल्चर का ही एक बड़ा हिस्सा है पशुपालन. पशुपालक किसानों की अपने आप में कई सारी चुनौतियां हैं, जिनमें पशु खरीद, पशु हानि, उत्पाद बिक्री, मेहनत की तुलना में आय कम होना, जैसी अनेक समस्याएं... डेयरी प्रोडक्ट की उपलब्धता कराने में इस सेक्टर की जितनी बड़ी भूमिका है, उतनी ही बड़ी चुनौतियां भी.
