Coin. Half Merk or 'noble' of James VI of Scotland (1567-1625), second coinage, dated 1572

Obverse description: Crowned shield of Arms of Scotland between 6 and 8. A few characters have partially spalled from the flan.

Obverse inscription: IACOBVS.[?mintmark]DEI.GRATIA.REX.SCOTORVM

Reverse description: Ornate cross with floral or vegetal ends with alternate thistles and crowns in its angle.

Reverse inscription: +SALV[??].FAC.POPVLVM.TVVM.DNE 1572

Diameter: 31.1mm, Weight: 6.51gms, die axis: 12.
