Chandrabhaga (Sanskrit: चंद्रभागा) is the queen of Samkasya in the Hindu epic Ramayana. She is the queen consort of Kushadhvaja, the brother of Janaka, who ruled over Mithila. She is the mother of Mandavi and Shrutakirti.[1]

Legend[edit]

Chandrabhaga was married to Kushadhvaja. Chandrabhaga first gave birth to and Mandavi. Chandrabhaga later gave birth to her second daughter Shrutakirti.[2] Both her daughters were brought up in Mithila, along with Sita and Urmila.[3] Mandavi was married to Bharata while Shrutakirti was married to Shatrughna, both the younger brothers of Rama.[4]

In popular culture[edit]

Anjali Rana portrayed Chandrabhaga in the 2015 series Siya Ke Ram.[5]
