"L'Amour de Ma Vie" (transl. Love of My Life) is a song by American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish from her third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft, released through Darkroom and Interscope Records on May 17, 2024. Written by Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell, who also produced the track, it is a breakup song composed of two distinct parts. It begins as a jazz and soft rock tune supported by guitar and singing style compared to Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey, before transitioning to an electronic section based on club beats, 1980s synths and Auto Tuned vocals. An extended version of the song's second part subtitled "Over Now" was released on May 22, 2024, as a promotional single.

Music and lyrics[edit]

The song is split into two halves, the first a retro-pop,[3] jazz,[2] and soft rock[4] section and the latter an electronic section influenced by disco,[5] electropop,[3] hyperpop,[1][6] and 1980s synth-pop.[1][7] The latter half features overtly Auto Tuned vocals. The lyrics focus on the sentiment of Eilish lying to her former lover that they were the love of her life, while chastising them for moving on to a new paramour after their relationship ended. The second half sees a perspective shift to Eilish reconnecting with another ex of her partner's, in what many outlets described as a "plot twist". On release, fans theorized that the lyrics referred to Jesse Rutherford.[8][9][10] The first part garnered comparisons to the work of Laufey.[2]
